Scandinavia, consisting of Sweden, Norway and Denmark, as well as Finland, is characterized by its diverse geography and economic strength. The region extends from the coasts of the North and Baltic Seas to the northern polar regions and is known for fjords, forests and mountains. Economically, Norway is a major exporter of oil and natural gas, while at the same time investing heavily in renewable energies such as hydropower. Sweden is a center for technology and innovation, home to global companies such as Volvo and Spotify. Denmark plays a central role in international trade with its maritime industry and Maersk. Life science, IT, wind energy and water technology, as well as logistics, are also leading industries with a strong global reputation. In addition, the region benefits greatly from tourism year after year. Scandinavia combines economic success with social prosperity and sustainability, making the countries role models in Europe.
